VMware Announces Multiple Leadership Changes         

VMware appointed Sanjay Poonen as COO, Customer Operations, and the appointments of Raghu Raghuram and Rajiv Ramaswami to co-lead a new Products and Cloud Services organization as COOs, Products and Cloud Services.

Prior to his appointment, Poonen had served as VMware’s EVP and GM, End-User Computing, Head of Global Marketing since April 2016. He joined VMware as EVP and GM, End-User Computing in August 2013. Prior to joining VMware, he spent more than seven years at SAP, serving as President and Corporate Officer of Platform Solutions and the Mobile Division.

Prior to his appointment, Raghuram had served as VMware’s EVP, Software-Defined Data Center Division since April 2012. Raghuram joined VMware in 2003 and has held multiple product management and marketing roles.

Ramaswami had served as VMware’s EVP and GM of its Networking and Security business since April 2016. Before that, he was EVP and GM of the Infrastructure & Networking Group of Broadcom Corporation, a semiconductor company, from 2010.Shekar Ayyar

VMware announced an expanded focus on communication service providers (CSPs) and telecommunications carriers (telcos), and the promotion of Shekar Ayyar to EVP and General Manager, Telco Group. Ayyar holds more than 15 years of senior leadership experience in enterprise software, communications and semiconductors. Under his leadership the company has executed on several acquisitions including Nicira and AirWatch, and established itself as a leading provider of NFV infrastructure. Prior to joining the company, Ayyar held senior roles at Lucent Technologies, BindView (acquired by Symantec), and Instantis (acquired by Oracle), spanning product management, marketing, and business development, and was also a consultant with McKinsey & Co.

VMware appointed Brett Shirk to the post of SVP and general manager of VMware's Americas region. Shirk is responsible for strategic planning, business operations, go-to-market strategy and management of VMware's business in Latin America, the United States and Canada. He joins VMware from his most recent role of SVP of the Americas Sales Organization for Veritas Software.

Ericsson Appoints Head of IT & Cloud for South Mediterranean Area         

Ericsson appointed Nino D'Auria as Head of IT & Cloud for the South Central Mediterranean area comprising Italy, Israel and Libya. D'Auria will head a team of over 1,200 IT, cloud and system integration professionals and has been tasked with accelerating the digital transformation of companies and operators in the strategic cloud and IT sector.

Splunk Appoints CMO and Product Chief

Richard CampioneSplunk appointed Brian Goldfarb as chief marketing officer (CMO). Goldfarb brings a wealth of experience to the company, having helped to grow usage and revenues at Salesforce, Google and Microsoft.

Splunk also appointed Richard Campione as chief product officer (CPO).  A veteran of both startups and multinational corporations, Campione has been a technology leader for more than 30 years. As CPO, he will oversee product strategy and engineering across the Splunk® portfolio and Splunk Cloud to drive innovation and meet the needs of Splunk customers within IT, security and business teams. Campione previously served as the CEO and president at Findly.

ARRIS International Promotes Dan Whalen to President, Network & Cloud           

ARRIS International announced the promotion of Dan Whalen to President, Network & Cloud. Whalen will oversee the development and delivery of the company's leading portfolio of broadband and video network infrastructure technologies and cloud-based software solutions. Since 2013, he served as ARRIS's SVP and General Manager of Global Services. 

Rackspace Hosting Announces Board Elections and Leadership Changes   

Inception Parent completed the acquisition of the Rackspace Hosting. All of the directors serving on the Board of Directors of the company were removed without cause; and Parent, the sole stockholder of the company, elected David Sambur, Aaron Sobel, Darren Glatt and William Taylor Rhodes to the Board as directors of the company. David Sambur is a Partner of Apollo Global Management, having joined in 2004. Aaron Sobel is a Principal of Apollo Global Management, having joined in 2011. Darren Glatt is a Partner of Searchlight Capital Partners, having joined in 2013. Prior to the merger, Rhodes was the CEO, President of and a member of the Board.

Reinhard Waldinger has been promoted to the role of Managing Director, International of Rackspace, looking after all regions outside of the USA. He will be supported by Alex Fuerst, as Regional Leader for DACH. Reinhard Waldinger has worked at Rackspace for more than 10 years in offices around the world, including Zurich, and will now be responsible for all of the company's operations internationally. Prior to this role, Waldinger was VP of Finance for Rackspace International.

Fuerst is a trained lawyer and comes with 15 years of experience in the IT field. He began his career at Siemens AG, followed by senior positions at Motorola, Avaya and Acronis.
