Microsoft COO Kevin Turner Resigns
B. Kevin Turner, 51, Microsoft's COO, has resigned. He is joining financial firm Citadel to run its technology-heavy market-making unit as CEO of Citadel Securities. He will also be a vice chairman of the firm. Turner had been at Microsoft for 11 years. Turner was the driving force behind the sales and marketing efforts of Office 365 and the widespread customer adoption of Azure cloud.
Prior to Microsoft, Turner spent nearly 20 years at Walmart. Turner was named Walmart's CIO and later President and CEO of Sam's Club, a $37 billion division of Walmart. A one-time cashier at Wal-Mart, Turner was named a corporate officer there at age 29, the retailer's youngest ever at the time.
