Software Players Witness Diverse Leadership Shuffles: VMware, Fiserv, CA & More

VMware Announces Multiple Leadership Changes   

VMware announced an expanded focus on communication service providers (CSPs) and telecommunications carriers (telcos), and the promotion of Shekar Ayyar to EVP and General Manager, Telco Group. Ayyar holds more than 15 years of senior leadership experience in enterprise software, communications and semiconductors. 

Under his leadership the company has executed on several acquisitions including Nicira and AirWatch, and established itself as a leading provider of NFV infrastructure. Prior to joining the company, Ayyar held senior roles at Lucent Technologies, BindView (acquired by Symantec), and Instantis (acquired by Oracle), spanning product management, marketing, and business development, and was also a consultant with McKinsey & Co.

VMware appointed Brett Shirk to the post of SVP and general manager of VMware's Americas region. Shirk is responsible for strategic planning, business operations, go-to-market strategy and management of VMware's business in Latin America, the United States and Canada. He joins VMware from his most recent role of SVP of the Americas Sales Organization for Veritas Software.

FIS Executive Chair Becomes Independent Chairman; New CAO Named

Fidelity National Information Services former CEO and current Executive Chair will now serve as non-Executive Chair of the company. Alongside, Michael A. Nussbaum resigned from his position as Chief Accounting Officer to pursue other opportunities.

The company also announced that Katy Thompson will become Chief Accounting Officer. Thompson has served as Chief Audit Executive of the Company since 2011. Prior to that, she served as Florida practice leader for Experis Finance, and as managing director at Protiviti.

Fiserv Appoints CIO from BNY Mellon  Jim Grech     

Fiserv announced that Jim Grech has been named CIO. Grech succeeds Clifford (Cliff) Skelton, who will move into a new role after nearly five years in key leadership positions at Fiserv. Grech, who has spent the majority of his career in financial services technology, joins Fiserv from BNY Mellon, where he was responsible for the firm’s global technology infrastructure.

Symantec CFO to Leave; Acquired Entity Blue Coat’s Former CFO Appointed to the Finance Chief Role

Symantec announced that Thomas Seifert, EVP and CFO, has informed the Board of Directors of his plans to step down as CFO.  Seifert, who has led Symantec’s finance organization since March 2014, will continue to serve in an advisory capacity until March 2017 to facilitate a smooth transition of responsibilities.

Symantec’s Board of Directors has appointed Nick Noviello, formerly CFO of Blue Coat, as EVP and CFO.  Noviello has overseen company-wide integration following the completion of Symantec’s acquisition of Blue Coat. Nick Noviello joined Symantec as Chief Integration Officer in August 2016, following its acquisition of Blue Coat. Prior to joining Symantec, Noviello served as CFO of Blue Coat.           

CA Technologies Appoints Interim CFO as CFO              

CA Technologies announced that Kieran J. McGrath has been appointed EVP and CFO. McGrath, who most recently served as interim CFO, will report to CEO Mike Gregoire. McGrath, 57, joined CA Technologies in 2014 as corporate controller and served in that role until being named interim-CFO in July 2016. Prior to that, McGrath spent more than 30 years at IBM..

CA Technologies appointed Ken Martin as VP, Solution Sales, Agile Central, Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). Ken Martin is an experienced industry leader with more than 20 years in IT. He joins CA from Intelligent Pathways where he was responsible for the successful delivery of the company's consulting services for New South Wales, Australia. During his 10-year tenure at HP and Compaq, Ken Martin held regional leadership positions in solution sales. He has also worked with Oracle and Toshiba.

Splunk Appoints CMO and Product ChiefBrian Goldfarb

Splunk appointed Brian Goldfarb as CMO. Goldfarb brings a wealth of experience to the company, having helped to grow usage and revenues at Salesforce, Google and Microsoft.

Splunk also appointed Richard Campione as chief product officer (CPO).  A veteran of both startups and multinational corporations, Campione has been a technology leader for more than 30 years. As CPO, he will oversee product strategy and engineering across the Splunk® portfolio and Splunk Cloud to drive innovation and meet the needs of Splunk customers within IT, security and business teams. Campione previously served as the CEO and president at Findly.

Sage Group Announces Board Changes         

The Sage Group plc announced that Ruth Markland and Inna Kuznetsova have advised the Board of their intention to step down from their positions as non-executive directors of Sage. Ruth Markland joined Sage in September 2006 as a non-executive director. Inna Kuznetsova joined Sage as a non-executive director in March 2014. Drummond Hall has accepted the appointment of Senior Independent Director .

ANSYS Appoints Rick Mahoney as VP of Worldwide Sales and Customer Excellence           

Computer-aided engineering software developer ANSYS appointed Rick Mahoney as its VP of worldwide sales and customer excellence. Mahoney was most recently SVP of design enablement and international sales at GlobalFoundries, where he led a global engineering team and was responsible for multiple billions of dollars in international sales.

NetSuite Announces Board and Management Changes after Acquisition by Oracle

In connection with the $9.3 billion acquisition of cloud storage company NetSuite by Oracle, each of Zachary Nelson, Evan Goldberg, James McGeever, William Beane III, Deborah Farrington, Catherine R. Kinney, Kevin Thompson, Edward J. Zander and Steven J. Gomo resigned from his or her respective position as a member of the board. The size of the board of directors of company was reduced to one member and Brian S.  Higgins was appointed as the sole member of the board of directors of the company. Dorian Daley appointed as president of the company and Gregory Hilbrich appointed as treasurer of the company.

Sabre Corporation Appoints Hootsuite Media Exec as SVP of Hotel, Car, Cruise and Rail  

Travel software company Sabre has appointed Traci Mercer as SVP of hotel, car, cruise and rail, to lead commercial efforts and supplier relationships for the company’s growing land and sea customer portfolio worldwide. Mercer’s industry experience includes over 10 years at Expedia, working in various leadership roles, driving their business strategy and sales operations in North America and Asia-Pacific markets. Most recently, Mercer was global VP, online revenue and growth, for Hootsuite Media.

Douglas Burgum Resigns as Board Member of Atlassian      

Atlassian Corporation, enterprise software company that develops products for software developers, project managers, and content management, announced that Douglas Burgum as a member of the board of directors of the company due to the standing as Governor-elect of North Dakota.

Nuance Communications Chair/CEO to Retire; EVP, WW Sales Leaves     

Nuance Communications announced that its Board of Directors has extended Nuance Chairman and CEO Paul Ricci’s employment agreement through the first half of fiscal 2018. Ricci has advised the Board that he intends to retire at the end of this term. The Board of Directors will undertake a search process to choose Ricci’s successor during the term.

The company also announced that Bill Robbins, EVP, Worldwide Sales, will be leaving the company for another role and as part of a planned transition of sales responsibilities into Nuance’s four business divisions.

athenahealth Announces Board and HR Leadership Changes          

athenahealth announced Ed Park, its EVP and COO, has been appointed to the company’s board. Park will be stepping down from his current role this month. In preparation for Park’s transition, he has worked closely with Kyle Armbrester, SVP and Chief Product Officer of athenahealth, to ensure a seamless transition. Armbrester will take on responsibility for direction and delivery of core services and will continue to lead the hospital division.

athenahealth appointed Diane Holman as Chief People Officer. Holman has held senior human resources leadership positions in a number of large, geographically diverse technology and financial services companies. She joins the company from TE Connectivity where she was the VP of Global Talent Management. Previously, she served as the SVP and Head of Group Talent Management for Capgemini in Paris.

Science Applications International Corporation Hires CFOCharles A. Mathis

SAIC appointed Charles A. Mathis as EVP and CFO. Interim CFO Maria M. Bishop will resume her duties as corporate controller. Mathis joins SAIC from ScanSource.

EPAM Systems CFO to Leave           

Anthony Conte intends to resign as the company's SVP, CFO and Treasurer of EPAM Systems. Conte has agreed to participate in the selection of his successor, assist in a smooth transition of his responsibilities, and actively work for the Company until his departure.

Playtech Appoints CEO of Playtech BGT Sports       

Gambling software development company Playtech announced that BGT founder Dr. Armin Sageder has been appointed CEO of Playtech BGT Sports. The new division brings together Playtech Sports companies BGT, Geneity, Mobenga, Unilogic and Playtech's internal Sports Trading team. Armin will assume responsibility for all of Playtech BGT Sports' business and customer relations and establish and lead a team to manage the division.

Tech Data Appoints Director from Consumer Goods and Pharmaceutical Domain

Tech Data Corporation appointed Bridgette Heller to the company’s Board of Directors. Heller has served as EVP, Early Life Nutrition, and a member of the Executive Committee for Danone since July 2016.

Tech Data also appointed Linda Rendleman to VP of Product Marketing, Client and Mobile Solutions. In this role, Rendleman will be responsible for the strategic direction and go-to-market execution of the company’s Client and Mobile Solutions business in the United States, including development of growth strategies and program implementation.

Ellie Mae Promotes SVP, Finance to CFO    

Ellie Mae appointed Matthew LaVay, the Company’s current SVP of Finance, to serve as the Company’s new CFO. Since October 2014, LaVay has served as the Company’s SVP, Finance. Previously he served as the Company’s VP, Corporate Controller. Prior to that, he was VP Corporate Controller at Taleo, and Corporate Controller & Senior Director of Finance at Scientific Learning.

Paycom Software Appoints Couple of Directors with HR/Payroll and Federal Experience

Cloud-based human capital management software firm Paycom Software announced that Henry Ric Duques and J.C. Watts, Jr. have been appointed to Paycom’s board of directors. Duques is the former chairman and CEO of First Data. He previously served on the boards of directors of several public companies, including Unisys, SunGard and CheckFree. Duques brings substantial experience in the payroll and HR field, having served as the group president of financial services at ADP.

Watts, who served in the U.S. House of Representatives for eight years, is the president and CEO of Watts Partners, a boutique corporate and government affairs consulting firm he co-founded in 2003. During his time in Congress, Watts was a member of the Financial Services, Armed Services and Transportation and Infrastructure committees. Watts currently serves on the board of directors of Dillard's, and previously served on the boards of directors of several other public companies, including CSX and ITC Holdings.

Fleetmatics Group Announces Board Changes          

Fleetmatics Group announced that pursuant to the terms of the Transaction Agreement, the following members of the board of directors of the company resigned as directors of company: Jim Travers, Vincent De Palma, Andrew Flett, Brian Halligan, James Kelliher, Allison Mnookin, Jack Noonan and Liam Young. Claire Aitkenhead, Noel Dinsmore and Peter Mitchell were appointed to the company's board of directors.

Fireeye Appoints Sales Leader from Nuance

FireEye announced that former Symantec and Nuance Communications executive Bill Robbins has joined the company as EVP of worldwide sales. Most recently, Robbins served as EVP of worldwide sales at Nuance Communications.

Zendesk Announces Sales Organization Changes      

Amanda Kleha notified Zendesk, the Customer Service Software & Support Ticket System, of her intention to resign from her position as SVP, Go to Market Strategy of the company. Marcus Bragg has notified the company of his intention to resign from his position as SVP, Worldwide Sales of the company, in order to pursue an outside opportunity. Jaimie Buss has agreed to join the company as VP, Sales for the Americas region.

Synchronoss Technologies Announces Executive Changes after Acquiring Intralinks

Synchronoss Technologies, the mobile innovation leader that provides personal cloud solutions and software-based activation for connected devices, and Intralinks Holdings announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement for Synchronoss to acquire Intralinks for approximately $821 million in equity value. Ron Hovsepian, CEO of Intralinks, is expected to be appointed CEO of Synchronoss and join the Synchronoss board with Synchronoss’ Founder and current CEO, Stephen G. Waldis will move into the role of active Executive Chairman of the board.

Progress Software Eliminates Michael Benedict as Chief Product Officer    

Progress Software announced that the company has eliminated the role of Michael Benedict, Chief Product Officer of company and, as a result, Benedict's employment with the company has terminated.

Callidus Software Announces CFO Changes  

Bob L. Corey notified Callidus Software that he intends to retire from his position as EVP, CFO of the Company. The Board appointed Roxanne Oulman as EVP, CFO. Roxanne Oulman has served as the Company's SVP, Finance and Accounting since May 2013.

Tyler Winkler to Retire as VP, Global Sales & Marketing of SecureWorks    

Tyler Winkler, SecureWorks's VP, Global Sales & Marketing, informed the Company that he will retire. SecureWorks provides information security services, protecting its customers' computers, networks and information assets from malicious activity such as cybercrime.

Rapid7 Appoints Jeffrey A. Kalowski as CFO

Rapid7, a provider of security data and analytics solutions, appointed Jeffrey A. Kalowski as the CFO of the company. Kalowski, 60, has served as the CFO of Imprivata Prior to Imprivata, Kalowski has also served as the CFO of ProfitLogic and Torrent Systems.

Carbonite’s Product and Engineering SVP Leaves     

David Raissipour tendered his resignation as SVP, Product and Engineering of Carbonite. Prior to joining Carbonite, David was with EMC’s RSA where he served most recently as VP and General Manager for Identity, Authentication and Fraud products.
