Hertz Appoints Recently Retired UPS Chief Information and Global Business Services Officer to Board
David Barnes
David Barnes, 60, who recently announced his retirement from United Parcel Service, where he served as SVP, chief information and global business services officer, was elected as a new member of the Hertz board. Barnes is continuing with UPS in a transitional capacity. He also chaired the UPS Information Technology Governance Committee, which is responsible for overseeing the direction of UPS technology investments.
AOL CTO Joins John Wiley & Sons’ Board
John Wiley & Sons named William Pence, Global CTO at AOL, to its Board. With more than 25 years of experience, William Pence is an accomplished leader in the digital technology industry. Currently appointed as Global CTO at AOL, William leads all aspects of AOL’s global technology strategy, platform development and external technology partnerships, as well as plays a key leadership role in the overall strategy and direction of AOL.
South State Corporation Appoints CIO of Southern Company as Newest Director 
Martin B. Davis
South State Corporation announced that Martin B. Davis has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Davis currently serves as EVP of Southern Company Services and chief information officer of Southern Company. He has spent nearly 30 years leading complex technology organizations in highly regulated environments, including the utility and financial services industry. Davis will begin his board service term at the July 2016 board meeting and will initially serve on the Risk and Audit Committees of the Board.
Cooper-Standard Board Elects Former Systems Engineer from Northrop Grumman as New Member
Cooper-Standard elected Sonya F. Sepahban to its board of directors. Sepahban served as SVP of Engineering Design and Development at General Dynamics Land Systems from 2009 to 2015. Prior to that, she held a number of leadership positions with Northrop Grumman Space Technology, including as the SVP and Chief Engineer from 2007 to 2009 where she was responsible for program execution, product development, and continuous improvement; VP of Systems Engineering from 2006 to 2007; VP and CTO from 2004 to 2006; and VP and Deputy General Manager of Engineering from 1997 to 2004.
