Alibaba Appoints Former McKinsey Exec to Oversee Strategy and Investment Team in India
Alibaba appointed Madhur Deep as its SVP. In his new role, Deep will take care of strategy and investment team in India at Alibaba. Prior to this appointment, Deep worked for McKinsey as its Senior Engagement Manager.
Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Jae-Yong Lee Joins Board
Samsung Electronics approved the nomination of Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong to the electronics giant's board of directors. The approval enables the 48-year-old Lee, the only son of the ailing Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Kun-hee, to more actively participate and take formal responsibility in the company's important decision-making. The younger Lee joined Samsung Electronics in 1991.
Cisco Announces Board Changes; Leadership Move in the Middle East
Cisco reported the appointment of Amy L. Chang, CEO and founder of Accompany, to its board of directors. Chang, is CEO and founder of Accompany, a relationship intelligence platform company.
Cisco Middle East has appointed Ziad Salameh as managing director of its West region. Leading a team in the West region, Salameh will develop stronger partner associations with strategic initiatives for skill set development and build on Cisco's public and private sector engagements to attain Cisco's strategic goals and elevate business performance.
Qualcomm Appoints Ann M. Livermore to its Board; Promotes Qualcomm Technology Licensing Leader
Qualcomm named Ann M. Livermore to its Board of Directors. With her nearly 30 years at Hewlett-Packard Company (HP), Livermore brings extensive experience in senior leadership positions, and broad knowledge and experience in the areas of technology, business management, marketing, sales, and research and development. Livermore has been a director of UPS since November 1997, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) since November 2015. Livermore was a director of HP from June 2011 to November 2015.
Qualcomm promoted Alex Rogers to EVP and president of Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL). Rogers has led QTL since March 2016. In this role, Rogers is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of QTL, including managing the division's day-to-day operations.
Priceline.com Interim CEO Takkes up CEO Role Permanently
The Priceline Group announced that priceline.com's current interim CEO, Brett Keller, has been named CEO of priceline.com. A veteran executive of priceline.com, Keller was named interim CEO of Priceline.com in June 2016 after serving as COO of the business, and prior to that, CMO. Keller joined priceline.com in 1999 and over the past 17 years has played a central role in evolving the brand's product and go-to-market strategies for its diverse digital offerings. He also serves on the board of directors for Broadridge Financial Solutions.
Accenture Appoints Former Adidas Chair/CEO to Board; Names New MD for Government Relations
Accenture announced that Herbert Hainer has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors. Hainer was CEO and chairman of the executive board of adidas from 2001 until his retirement in September 2016.
Accenture has hired Brigitte Gwyn as a managing director of government relations. Gwyn will be responsible for the company’s government relations activities in North America as well as key growth markets, including Latin America. Gwyn joins Accenture with more than 20 years of public policy, legislative and government relations experience, most recently serving as Kellogg Company’s VP for government relations and a member of the company’s Global Leadership Team.
Broadcom Announces CFO Changes
Broadcom announced that Anthony E. Maslowski's, former SVP and CFO, employment with the company was terminated. Maslowski has been on a medical leave of absence since March 2016.
Thomas H. Krause, Jr., has been appointed to serve as the company's VP and CFO, and as its principal financial officer. As previously disclosed on the company's Pior Report, Krause has served as the company's acting CFO and acting principal financial officer since March 2016, and as the company's VP, Corporate Development since January 2012.
TCS Chairman Changes
TCS appointed Ishaat Hussain as the chairman of the board replacing Cyrus P. Mistry. As a result, Mistry ceases to be the chairman of board of directors of the company. Hussain will hold the office of the chairman of board directors until a new chairman is appointed in his place.
Adobe CAO to Retire
Adobe announced that retirement of Richard Rowley as Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer of Adobe following 10 years of service. Rowley currently expects to remain in his role until January 31, 2017. Rowley has been the Chief Accounting Officer, VP and Controller at Adobe since November 2006. Rowley was previously employed as Treasurer, CAO, VP & Controller by Synopsys.
Netflix Hires Ex-Universal Television Exec as VP, Content; VP, Original Films Steps Down
Netflix announced that it hires Bela Bajaria, ex-Universal Television, as VP-content, leading team focused on TV and film licensing from major U.S. studios, and co-production relationships with major U.S. networks.
Pauline Fischer exits Netflix as VP, Original Films in order to establish a business consultancy company. She will be transitioning out of the company over the coming weeks, and will remain as a consultant on active productions during this period.
PayPal Promotes Global Head of Product and Engineering to COO
PayPal named William J. Ready, 36, as EVP, COO. Prior to this appointment, Ready served as the company's SVP, Global Head of Product and Engineering, and SVP, Merchant and Next Generation Commerce. He was CEO and GM of Braintree earlier.
ADP’s President, Global Enterprise Solutions Mark Benjamin Joins NCR as COO
Mark Benjamin resigned as President, Global Enterprise Solutions of ADP. He has joined NCR Corporation as the Company's President and COO. Previously, Benjamin held various leadership and operational roles with ADP, which he joined in 1992.
Infosys Appoints Founder and CEO of India Based Surya Software Systems as New Board Member
Infosys has appointed D.N. Prahlad as an independent director of the board. Prahlad is the founder and CEO of Surya Software Systems, Bangalore. He is on the advisory board of Computer Science and Automation Department of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
VMware Announces Multiple Leadership Changes
VMware appointed Sanjay Poonen as COO, Customer Operations, and the appointments of Raghu Raghuram and Rajiv Ramaswami to co-lead a new Products and Cloud Services organization as COOs, Products and Cloud Services.
Prior to his appointment, Poonen had served as VMware’s EVP and GM, End-User Computing, Head of Global Marketing since April 2016. He joined VMware as EVP and GM, End-User Computing in August 2013. Prior to joining VMware, he spent more than seven years at SAP, serving as President and Corporate Officer of Platform Solutions and the Mobile Division.
Prior to his appointment, Raghuram had served as VMware’s EVP, Software-Defined Data Center Division since April 2012. Raghuram joined VMware in 2003 and has held multiple product management and marketing roles.
Ramaswami had served as VMware’s EVP and GM of its Networking and Security business since April 2016. Before that, he was EVP and GM of the Infrastructure & Networking Group of Broadcom Corporation, a semiconductor company, from 2010.
VMware appointed Brett Shirk to the post of SVP and general manager of VMware's Americas region. Shirk is responsible for strategic planning, business operations, go-to-market strategy and management of VMware's business in Latin America, the United States and Canada. He joins VMware from his most recent role of SVP of the Americas Sales Organization for Veritas Software.
Cognizant Technology Solutions Announces New President
Cognizant announced that Rajeev (Raj) Mehta has been appointed President of the company. He replaces Gordon Coburn who resigned from the company. As CEO, IT Services at Cognizant, Raj was responsible for market-facing activities as well as for delivery across Cognizant's IT Services business. His prior roles at Cognizant include Group Chief Executive, Industries & Markets, and COO, Global Client Services.
Intuit Appoints Managing Director of its India Business
Intuit has appointed Nikhil Rungta as its managing director of its India business. Previously, he was appointed CMO at Housing.com. Prior to that, Rungta was the SVP of marketing at Reliance Jio and the CMO for Google India, where he led the position for four years. Overall, Rungta has over 20 years of experience in the marketing field and has worked in leadership roles at Yatra and Yebhi, where he headed the marketing for the companies. Other than this, he also worked at McCann Erickson, Dhar & Hoon Advertising, Shaw Wallace & Company and Mayfair Electrical Industries.
Nokia Announces CFO Changes; New Leadership in Eastern Europe
Timo Ihamuotila, CFO of Nokia, resigns from the company to join ABB in Switzerland as CFO and a member of the Executive committee. Ihamuotila will continue in his current role as Nokia CFO and as a member of the company's Group Leadership Team until December 31, 2016, and will remain as an advisor to the company until February 28, 2017.
Kristian Pullola, who currently is Nokia's SVP, Corporate Controller, is appointed as CFO and member of the Group Leadership Team as of January 1, 2017.
Demetrio Russo was appointed as VP of Nokia in Eastern Europe. He will be responsible for the business development and realization of the strategy in the regional markets.
FIS Transitions Executive Chair Frank R. Martire to Non-Executive Chair Role
Fidelity National Information Services in consistence with its orderly planned succession, transitioned Frank R. Martire, former CEO and current Executive Chair of the company, to serve as non-Executive Chair of the company commencing on January 1, 2017.
Ericsson Appoints New CEO; Witnesses Couple of Other Leadership Changes
Ericsson appointed Borje Ekholm President and CEO. Borje Ekholm will also remain a member of the Board of Directors of Ericsson. Borje Ekholm joins Ericsson from his current position as CEO of Patricia Industries. Prior to assuming this position in 2015, Ekholm held the position as President and CEO of Investor AB between 2005 and 2015.
Ericsson announced it will move the position as CHRO to Sweden and that Bina Chaurasia, based in California therefore will resign from her role as SVP and CHRO. Joining Ericsson from Hewlett Packard in 2010, Chaurasia has built a world class global HR function for Ericsson.
Maj-Britt Arfert has been appointed acting CHRO while the search for a successor is underway.
Ericsson has combined Strategy and Technology functions. Ulf Ewaldsson appointed Chief Strategy and Technology Officer and Head of Group Function Strategy and Technology for the Ericsson Group. Ulf Ewaldsson currently holds the position as CTO and Head of Group Function Technology.
Current Chief Strategy Officer Rima Qureshi was appointed Head of Region North America July 1, 2016, and has since held dual roles. In addition to her role as Head of Region North America, Rima Qureshi will continue to drive the strategic partnership with Cisco.
Fiserv Appoints CIO and New President of its Billing and Payments Group
Fiserv announced that Jim Grech has been named CIO. Grech succeeds Clifford (Cliff) Skelton, who will move into a new role after nearly five years in key leadership positions at Fiserv. Grech, who has spent the majority of his career in financial services technology, joins Fiserv from BNY Mellon, where he was responsible for the firm’s global technology infrastructure.
Fiserv named Devin McGranahan as president of its Billing and Payments Group. McGranahan succeeds Rahul Gupta, who will leave Fiserv in December 2016 to pursue other interests. McGranahan most recently served as a senior partner at McKinsey, engaging with leading financial services companies on a broad range of strategy, payments and business-building opportunities. In addition, McGranahan served as co-leader of the North America Financial Services Practice.
Gupta was named president of the Billing and Payments Group in 2014 and will assist with the transition through the remainder of 2016.
HCL Promotes COO to CEO
HCL Technologies appointed C Vijayakumar, COO of the company as the President and CEO of the company. Anant Gupta has decided to leave the company to pursue personal interests.
Symantec CFO to Leave; Acquired Entity Blue Coat’s Former CFO Appointed to the Finance Chief Role
Symantec announced that Thomas Seifert, EVP and CFO, has informed the Board of Directors of his plans to step down as CFO. Seifert, who has led Symantec’s finance organization since March 2014, will continue to serve in an advisory capacity until March 2017 to facilitate a smooth transition of responsibilities.
Symantec’s Board of Directors has appointed Nick Noviello, formerly CFO of Blue Coat, as EVP and CFO. Noviello has overseen company-wide integration following the completion of Symantec’s acquisition of Blue Coat. Nick Noviello joined Symantec as Chief Integration Officer in August 2016, following its acquisition of Blue Coat. Prior to joining Symantec, Noviello served as CFO of Blue Coat.
Skyworks Solutions Sees General Counsel Changes
Mark V.B. Tremallo retired from his position as VP, General Counsel and Secretary of semiconductor company Skyworks Solutions, in connection with a planned reduction in his commitments. Tremallo will continue as an employee of the Company serving in a non-executive transition role supporting his successor, Robert J. Terry, 50, the Company’s new VP, General Counsel and Secretary. Terry has served in positions of increasing responsibility in the Company’s legal department since 2003, most recently serving as VP, Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary since June 2011.
ServiceNow Announces Board Changes
Paul Barber resigned from his role as Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors of ServiceNow. The Board selected Frank Slootman to serve as Chairman of the Board. Based on his service as the Company's President and CEO since May 2011, as well as his management capabilities, strength in direct and clear communications, knowledge of the industry and proven leadership, the Board believes that Slootman is the director most capable of effectively identifying strategic priorities, leading critical discussion and guiding the formulation of the Company's strategy and business plans.
The Board expanded the size of the Board and appointed former VMware CFO Jonathan Chadwick and President & CEO of PEC Ventures and former Morgan Stanley MD Paul Chamberlain to serve as directors.
Palo Alto Networks Appoints Mary Pat McCarthy to Board of Directors
Palo Alto Networks appointed Mary Pat McCarthy to the company's board of directors. McCarthy brings more than 34 years of experience to this position. She most recently served as Vice Chair of KPMG.
Alcatel-Lucent Announces Resignation of Board of Directors
Nokia announced the 100% ownership of Alcatel-Lucent following the completion of the Squeeze-Out of all remaining Alcatel-Lucent securities not tendered into the Public Buy-Out Offer, completing the acquisition announced 19 months ago. The composition of the Board has been modified to reflect the new ownership structure of the company following the squeeze-out and the delisting from Euronext Paris. Independent directors Carla Cico, Jean-Cyril Spinetta and Sylvia Summers, as well as Board observers Gilles Le Dissez and Laurent du Mouza, resigned from the Board. Directors Risto Siilasmaa and Rajeev Suri also resigned as of the same date, while Kristian Pullola and Riikka Tieaho were coopted to the Board for the remaining duration of their respective terms of office.
CA Technologies Appoints Interim CFO as EVP and CFO
CA Technologies announced that Kieran J. McGrath has been appointed EVP and CFO. McGrath, who most recently served as interim CFO, will report to CEO Mike Gregoire. McGrath, 57, joined CA Technologies in 2014 as corporate controller and served in that role until being named interim-CFO in July 2016. Prior to that, McGrath spent more than 30 years at IBM.
Twitter Announces Several Executive Changes
Twitter announced that Adam Bain has informed the company of his decision to step down as COO and explore opportunities outside the company. Anthony Noto who has served as the company's CFO since July, 2014, has been named COO. Bain will assist with the transition of the COO role over the coming weeks.
Parminder Singh, who oversaw the business in India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East for the past three years, said he is moving on to new pastures within the next month. Karen Stocks, who headed Twitter in Australia, departed last week. Maya Hari is the new Managing Director of Southeast Asia and India reporting to Aliza Knox. Maya previously managed Twitter's Ads Product Strategy & Adoption for Asia Pacific, MENA and Latin America.
Head of India Rishi Jaitly has announced his resignation. Jaitly leaves after four years at the company. In August, he was appointed VP of Media for Asia Pacific-Middle East North Africa. Twitter has not yet said who will succeed Jaitly.
First Data Appoints Co-CEO at Lebenthal as Board Member
First Data Corporation appointed Barbara A. Yastine as Board of Directors. Yastine most recently served as a director and Co-CEO at Lebenthal Holdings. Prior to Yastine’s most recent role at Lebenthal Holdings, she served as Chair, President, and CEO of Ally Bank from 2012 to 2015. She also previously held the role of Chief Administrative Officer of Ally Financial. In addition Yastine is also a member of the Board of Primerica.
Seagate Technology Witnesses Board Move; EVP Changes
Seagate Technology announced that Michael R. Cannon was appointed Lead Independent Director on the company's Board of Directors. Cannon, who has served as a director on Seagate's board since 2011, replaces Dr. Chong Sup Park who has served as Lead Independent Director since 2011. Dr. Park has been a board member since 2006 and will continue to serve as a Seagate board director.
Seagate Technology and Albert A. Rocky Pimentel entered into a Separation and Release Agreement, pursuant to which Pimentel's employment with the company terminated. Pimentel had served in the interim role of EVP since January 4, 2016.
Patrick O'Malley's title was changed from that of EVP to SVP. O'Malley will continue to advise the CEO of Seagate Technology on a range of strategic and operational issues.
