GE Announces Digital Executive Appointments
Patrick Franklin has joined GE as VP & GM, Applications, GE Digital. Prior to joining GE, he was a VP of Engineering at Google. Over his twenty-five year career, Patrick has held leadership positions at Amazon, Microsoft, Intel and the United States Navy.
Steven Martin has joined GE as VP & Chief Digital Officer, GE Energy Connections. Prior to joining GE, Martin was GM & Chief Data Scientist, Azure at Microsoft. Over his twenty-five year career, Steven has held leadership positions in engineering, product management, venture capital and strategy.
The Coca-Cola Company Appoints iCIO as New CIO
Coca-Cola Co. named Barry Simpson CIO. He succeeds Ed Steinike, who died in July following a brief illness. Simpson previously oversaw IT for Coke’s global business units, and has been interim CIO since Steinike’s death. Simpson first joined the Coca-Cola system in 2008 as group CIO for the Coca-Cola Amatil Group, a Sydney-based bottler. In January 2016 he moved to Atlanta as Coke’s head of global business unit IT services.
Siemens Appoints Managing Board Member as CTO
Managing Board member Roland Busch, 52, who is currently responsible for the Energy Management Division and the Region Asia /Australia, has been appointed CTO. In this capacity, he will head Corporate Technology (CT), Siemens' central research and development unit. Busch will continue to be responsible for the Mobility Division and the Building Technologies Division.
ANZ Appoints Gerard Florian as Group Executive, Technology
Australian financial institution ANZ appointed Gerard Florian as Group Executive, Technology. Gerard joins the company from Dimension Data where he was Chief Strategy Officer for the global Cloud Business Unit. Previously Gerard was CTO and Chief Marketing Officer for Dimension Data’s Australian division. He is also a member of the ANZ International Technology and Digital Business Advisory Panel established in 2015.
21st Century Fox Appoints Paul Cheesbrough to the Role of CTO
21st Century Fox appointed Paul Cheesbrough to the role of CTO. In this new role, he will lead company-wide IT strategy and play a leadership role in driving its investments in technology, platforms and systems on a global basis. He joins 21CF from News Corp, where he also has served as CTO. Prior to that, he held executive technology leadership positions at News Corp’s UK business News UK, Telegraph Media Group, the BBC and IBM. He also currently serves as the Chairman of Unruly Media.
Sprint Appoints Former Comcast Exec as Chief Digital Officer
Rob Roy joins Sprint as Chief Digital Officer to advance the company’s use of online and mobile technology to improve the customer experience. At Comcast, as VP for digital revenue Roy helped to lead up product development and sales across all digital channels. Before that, he led e-commerce, self-service and digital marketing Time Warner Cable, which is now part of Charter Communications.
Kroger Announces Digital Leadership Changes
The Kroger Co. announced its succession plan for group VP and chief digital officer. Kevin Dougherty, 63, group VP and chief digital officer, will retire in January 2017, after 15 years of distinguished service. Yael Cosset, 43, chief commercial officer and CIO of 84.51°, will succeed Dougherty. Yael Cosset joined dunnhumby in 2009 as EVP of consumer markets. He was named global CIO in 2011 and led technology and product matters. He also served as chief executive officer of KSS Retail.
Safran Announces Executive Changes to Accelerate Internal Digital Transformation
Safran, the supplier of systems and equipment for aerospace, defense and security, announced that, two senior management positions were recently created in the corporate performance and competitiveness department, headed by Jean-Jacques Orsini, to accelerate company’s digital transformation. Franois de la Fontaine was named director of the 'Factory of the Future' initiative, to oversee one of the main aspects of this transformation, the digitization of the Group's facilities.
Daniel Dubreuil was named Chief Digital Officer, products and services, and is in charge of another key facet of digital: the development, production engineering and in-service monitoring of Safran's products.
Deutsche Bank Hires Philip Milne as CTO for Innovation
Deutsche Bank has hired Philip Milne as CTO for innovation. Milne joined Deutsche Bank in early November from a Silicon Valley virtual reality startup Lighthouse Labs and will act as a liaison between Deutsche Bank Labs and the bank's wider technology organization. He is former member of technical staff of Google.
Volvo Names New SVP for IT and Chief Digital Officer
Volvo has named Atif Rafiq as its new senior VP for IT and Chief Digital Officer.. Rafiq set up McDonald's Silicon Valley outpost in 2014 in an effort to better train and recruit digital talent. Projects he has overseen include tests of mobile ordering and payment, as well as McDonald's World Cup effort, which included an augmented reality game. Before McDonald's he held general management roles at Amazon, Yahoo, and AOL.
Fiserv Appoints CIO from BNY Mellon
Fiserv announced that Jim Grech has been named CIO. Grech succeeds Clifford (Cliff) Skelton, who will move into a new role after nearly five years in key leadership positions at Fiserv. Grech, who has spent the majority of his career in financial services technology, joins Fiserv from BNY Mellon, where he was responsible for the firm’s global technology infrastructure.
Fifth Third Bancorp Appoints Chief Operations and Technology Officer
Fifth Third Bancorp announced that Aravind Immaneni will be joining the Bank as EVP and chief operations and technology officer. He joins from TD Bank, where he currently is head of Retail Distribution Strategy & Operations.
Lincoln Financial Group Names SVP of Distribution IT from Voya Financial
Lincoln Financial Group named Robert Klaczak as SVP of Distribution IT. Klaczak joined Lincoln Financial from Voya Financial, where he most recently served as SVP and head of Retirement, Individual Retirement, Annuities and Retail IT. Prior to joining Voya, he served as head of IT Retirement Services for The Vanguard Group.
Emaar Properties Appoints Veresh Sita as Chief Digital Officer
UAE based real estate giant Emaar Properties PJSC appointed Veresh Sita, an international technology professional with deep expertise in developing customer-oriented solutions and experiences, as its Chief Digital Officer (CDO). Veresh joins Emaar from Alaska Airlines, where he was CIO.
QVC Names Todd Sprinkle as New CIO
Liberty Interactive subsidiary, QVC, named Todd Sprinkle as its new CIO. Sprinkle is set to oversee the e-commerce and video retailer's IT organizations across the world. Sprinkle joined the company in 2007, and has also worked at Turner Broadcasting and Macy's.
F5 Networks Promotes Product Development Exec as CTO
F5 Networks announced that Ryan Kearny has been appointed to the company’s executive leadership team as EVP of Product Development and CTO. Kearny joined F5 in 1998, previously serving as SVP of Product Development, among other technology leadership positions. Avnet Announces New CIO
Avnet appointed Kevin Summers as its CIO, with responsibility for Avnet’s global IT strategy and enterprise effectiveness initiative. Summers has extensive experience in leading large-scale IT organizations, where technology is used to enable growth strategies and create competitive advantages. This includes serving in CIO positions with H&R Block, Lowe’s, Whirlpool and The Coca-Cola Company, as well as senior executive positions at AT&T and GE. Summers succeeds Steve Phillips, who has decided to leave Avnet.

Brunswick Corporation has named Danielle Brown, 46, as VP - CIO. Brown succeeds Michael Schulz, who is retiring from Brunswick. Brown joins Brunswick from DuPont, where she most recently led global IT transformation in preparation for the merger of DuPont and Dow Chemical.

BlackBerry Appoints Former U.S. Coast Guard CIO to lead Federal Cybersecurity Operations Center
BlackBerry named Rear Admiral Robert "Bob" E. Day, Jr., U.S. Coast Guard (Ret.) to lead their forthcoming federal Cybersecurity Operations Center (CSOC) and product FedRAMP initiatives. Having been a key member of BlackBerry's AtHoc advisory board since retiring in 2014 and serving five years as CIO and Commander of Coast Guard Cyber Command, Rear Admiral Day brings 34-years of career experience in Federal IT and cybersecurity to the position.
Associated Banc-Corp Announces Chief Information and Operations Officer Changes
James (Jim) Yee, EVP and chief information and operations officer, has announced his plans to retire in the second quarter of 2017. In anticipation of Yee's retirement and succession, the company also announced that James (Jim) Payne has accepted the position of EVP and deputy chief information and operations officer. Payne joined Associated in 2015 as EVP and CTO. He has more than 30 years' of operations and technology experience, including 18 years within the financial services industry.

Morningstar Announces New Tech Appointments
Morningstar appointed Mitch Shue to CTO and James Rhodes to chief data officer. As CTO, Shue is responsible for Morningstar's long-term technology vision and execution. He joined Morningstar in 2014 through the company's acquisition of HelloWallet, where he served as CTO. Prior to HelloWallet, Shue was VP of engineering at Centrifuge Systems, developing interactive data visualization solutions. He previously led the graphic design, engineering, and data center teams at webs.com and served as VP of product development at webMethods.
Rhodes oversees data operations at Morningstar, focusing on the company's data technology strategy, including data collection, processing, and storage. He previously served as CTO and partner at Rocaton Investment Advisors, where he drove the company's technical vision and oversaw the software engineering team.
Buffalo Wild Wings Names Santiago Abraham as CIO

New Zealand Based Vector Appoints Chief Digital Officer
New Zealand based energy company Vector appointed Nikhil Ravishankar to the new executive role of Chief Digital Officer. The new role will be responsible for managing Vector's IT function and digital strategy and will work across the group to help shape Vector's response to disruptive technologies. Nikhil joins Vector from Accenture where he held the position of Managing Director for NZ operations and also sits on their Global Advisory Council for Telecommunications and Media practice. Prior to this role he was the Head of Technology Strategy for Spark and was part of their group transformation office.
California Water Service Group Promotes Customer Service & IT Exec to CIO
California Water Service Group announced the promotion of Michael B. Luu from VP of Customer Service & IT to VP of Customer Service and CIO. Luu was also appointed to his current position in August 2013. As VP of Customer Service and CIO, Luu will be responsible for customer service and all IT strategy, architecture, and applications, including cyber security, for all of Group's operations.
IRESS Announces Technology Executive Changes
Australian software company IRESS announced that its long-serving CTO, David Walker, will move into a new role of Chief Architect. From January, David will step down from the executive team and become Chief Architect at IRESS, working in a part-time role focused on the technical design and architecture of IRESS' systems and solutions.
IRESS appointed Andrew Todd as Chief Technical Officer. Andrew has been CIO at IOOF Holdings since 2009. Before this he was CIO at Australian Wealth Management, prior to its acquisition by IOOF. Andrew has also held senior roles with Standard & Poor's as head of IT for the Pacific region and worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Volkswagen Financial Services in management and business roles.
